C-M's Bug Suit

Hi Sarah Ann.. No skeeters? That's good, but we have those nasty little blackflies that get into your ears, nose and throat...that's when I know the morels are ready to be picked..best found here around old orchards. You should see me going into the woods, I look like I am from outer space. Hating commercial bugsprays, although I have a wonderful Essential oil formula now.

I make bug suits. Collect those sheer curtains from garagesales and use a simple pattern for pants and sweatshirt as my guide. I cut the pants oversize to go over shorts or jeans, extra long and add eleastic. The shirt, I also cut it extra long on the sleeves and arms, added a funnel neck, large enough to cover my head. Added elastic in the arms, bottom and drawstring on top of the funnelhead. The shirt was roomy enough to put over a windbreaker. Than dyed the whole thing black.

It really is my survival suit for being in the woods when the bugs are out.In Michigan we joke that the Mosquito is our Statebird, but the blackflies are nasty and I have had bad infections from them, also in summer , close to the lake, nasty flies that look just like houseflies like to chomp a chunk out of you. But than I do not give up that easily to not go into the woods.
