It is parasitic on myzorrhiza, tiny fungi on forest floor. Translucent and appears white. Thick stem covered w' scaly bracts which end in single nodding flower that is 1/2-1" long. 4-5 petals and a dozen stamen. Height is 3-9". No true leaves. Blooms June through September. Grows in rich, shady woodlands. H.
