Mullein Flower Oil

Pack a jar with mullein flowers and cover with high grade olive oil and let it set in the sun for several days.  Since collecting mullein flowers is rather time consuming it generally takes me a few days to get "enough" so they are almost always dried before I get to them. ...or at least partially wilted though I don't know that it matters much since mullein is so antibacterial. I just wouldn't add any that had dew still clinging to them...

Anyway...seep these for several days...up to 4 weeks and strain out the blooms.  The oil keep very well and if you like you can repack the jar with fresh mullein blooms and infuse it in the sun again for several days.

I know several people that use the whole bloom stalk when they make this oil but I tend to just use the blooms.  Collecting them is tedious but also a time I enjoy.  Wild crafting in general is tedious and tends to be a labor of love so if you are in a rush you can use the bloom spikes but I can say...the rewards of slowing down and using that time for meditation and reflection make this time well spent.
